Two days training on life cycle assessment held in Crete, Greece has ended. Six invited trainers shared their experience and knowledge with 18 trainees who came physically to Crete and 55 trainees online.
Dr. Sofia Papadaki introduced Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) principles and tools and presented a case study of LCA analysis in cultivation and post-harvest treatment of microalgal biomass.
Dr. Sara González García spoke about environmental perspective on the lignocellulosic biomass upcycling as well as presented case study of a wheat straw biorefinery.
Dr Tamíris da Costa introduced life cycle environmental impacts of different seafood farming alternatives in the Atlantic Area.
Mr. Ola Oberg presented a tool to choose directions in scaling up process.
Prof. Richard FitzGerald gave a talk titled “Potential challenges during larger scale marine bioprocessing”.
Finally, Ocean4Biotech chair Dr Ana Rotter and working group (WG) 3 leader Dr Arita Dubnika shared useful tricks and tips to be used in writing project proposal as well as LCA importance in proposals.
Training school was very interactive and inclusive, both days training school participants received tasks to be solved by formed teams, thus they had outstanding chance to share their ideas and to meet new people.
